Flights
The main airport in Finnish Lapland is Rovaniemi (RVN) which has straight flights from all over the world during winter season. RVN airport is about 15 minutes away from Rovaniemi city. Finnish Lapland has also airports in Kittilä (KTT) close to Levi and Ylläs, Ivalo (IVL) close to Inari and Saariselkä, Kuusamo (KAO), Kemi-Tornio (KEM) and Enontekiö (ENF). Traveling from capital Helsinki (HEL) to Lapland by flight, train, bus or car is also good option.
Safety
Finnish Lapland is extremely safe from crime but has its own safety risks what comes to environment. Extreme cold, slippery ice and driving risks involving wildlife are the main cause of accidents in Finland. In popular tourist destinations like Santa Claus Village, pickpocketing has become more common, and taxi scams involving unofficial operators are increasingly reported. To avoid scams, always use licensed local taxi companies.
