1. There are way too many Northern Lights shows to keep track of
Who would want to spend hours staring up at the sky, waiting for nature’s most magical light show? Watching vivid green and purple lights dancing across the Arctic sky? Boring, right? I mean, you can always look at pictures online, so why bother seeing the Aurora Borealis in real life?
2. The silence of the wilderness is deafening
Who enjoys peace and quiet? Imagine being surrounded by vast, snow-covered forests with only the sound of your own breath and crunching snow underfoot. Horrible, isn’t it? The stillness of Lapland’s untouched nature might even make you relax. And who wants that on vacation?

3. Husky sledding is way too fast and fun
Let’s be honest, racing through snowy trails while being pulled by a team of enthusiastic huskies sounds exhausting. The excitement, the thrill, the wind in your face—it’s just too much. If you’re not into unforgettable adventures, definitely skip the husky sledding in Lapland!
4. Reindeer sleigh rides are overrated
Why would anyone want to glide through magical winter landscapes in a sleigh pulled by real reindeer? It sounds like something out of a fairytale, which obviously makes it too cliché. Plus, who needs those serene snow-covered forests and twinkling stars when you could just watch a holiday movie instead?

5. Who needs to visit Santa?
Lapland is literally Santa’s home, but let’s be real: why meet the man himself when you can just send him a letter? Visiting Santa’s village, wandering through his cozy workshops, and meeting his elves in person sounds like too much holiday cheer for one trip. Skip it, unless you really love Christmas.
6. Winter activities galore? No, thank you!
Skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling… Lapland has it all. But who wants so many options? Choosing between these endless, exciting outdoor adventures is way too stressful. You might end up having too much fun in the snow, and no one wants to come home with amazing stories of arctic activities.

7. You might actually like the cold
Yes, it’s cold in Lapland—so cold that you’ll need to wear a warm parka and cozy up by the fire at the end of the day. But who would enjoy warming up with hot cocoa in a glass igloo or cabin after a day of winter wonderland adventures? Honestly, the crisp, refreshing air is overrated.
8. The endless winter nights are boring
Who wants to experience a place where the sun barely rises during winter, leaving you with long, cozy evenings? The beautiful twilight and soft light reflecting off the snow sounds miserable. And if you love dark, starry skies and dreamlike atmospheres, well, Lapland is definitely not for you.

9. The scenery is too Instagram-worthy
Snow-capped trees, frozen lakes, and rolling hills of pure white snow—it’s all too picturesque. Who needs those jaw-dropping landscapes that look straight out of a fantasy world? If you don’t want your Instagram feed flooded with dreamy winter photos, you should probably avoid Lapland altogether.
10. You’ll never want to leave
Let’s be real: the biggest danger of visiting Lapland is that you’ll fall in love with it. The magical landscapes, the wildlife, the winter activities, and the charm of the Arctic will steal your heart. So, unless you’re ready to make Lapland your new favorite destination, it’s probably best to stay away!
Jokes aside, I love my home—it’s unique, peaceful, and full of surprises. But I understand that it’s not for everyone. Some people think Finnish Santa wears the wrong-shaped glasses, our reindeer are too slow, the snow makes everything look dull, and there’s “nothing to do”—yes, I’ve heard it all from travelers. But for most visitors, everything here is magical, unique, and often the best trip of their life.
So, if you’re still on the fence about visiting Lapland, take the plunge—I bet, you won’t regret it!
