Born and raised in Rovaniemi, I live and breathe Lapland. I’ve spent my life exploring the diverse landscapes of Lapland, from the charming towns to the remote wilderness. Although I’ve lived in various places around Finland and abroad, I’ve always returned to my true home. Magic of the north always draws me back.
But my love for travel has taken me to over 20 countries. I love traveling with friends, my fiancée, and my beloved dog. I have a deep affection for animals in all forms, although I must admit, I find birds’ eyes a bit creepy! My dream is to spend spring and summer times exploring new destinations while returning to the magic of Lapland each autumn. My blog is your go-to for real, local tips straight from someone who knows and loves Lapland deeply.
Blogging
One of the reasons I started blogging about my home, Lapland, is the growing tourism industry, which often overlooks the needs of locals. Don’t get me wrong, I love that Lapland is becoming more popular (and for good reason), but what frustrates me is that local services, aren’t improving for locals.
My goal is to encourage travelers to use the same local services we do, such as public transportation, restaurants, and shops. Right now, we’re seeing weekly news about city budget cuts affecting to our services, like bus lines, local small businesses going bankrupt, fast food chains popping up on every corner, and tourist trap shops increasing… List goes on.
In my blog, I aim to highlight local businesses, hotels, restaurants, and shops that provide an authentic local experience for travelers, as well as teach them how to use services that also benefit the local community. Sustainability is important to me as well. Even in Lapland, there are tourism providers that mistreat animals, companies that neglect their employees, and a flood of souvenirs that come from who knows where.
